 At Cummins Filtration, we support federal requirements that promote a clean and safe environment. As a long-standing member of the Filter Manufacturers Council and other industry trade organizations, we work directly with federal, state, and provincial governments on regulatory issues pertaining to disposal of used products.
All states currently regulate the disposal of used engine oils; many also regulate the disposal of used oil filters. We work with our customers to comply with governmental regulations and to decrease their product disposal burden.
Products Designed for a Cleaner Environment
Our product technology group continually works to design products that minimize waste and have reduced environmental impact. Many of our current product technologies have been designed with environmental friendliness as a key objective, including:
- Extended service interval (ESI) products to reduce disposal issues
- Propylene glycol-based coolants in non-toxic formulations
- Centrifugal filtration technology with incinerable ConeStaC™ components
- Closed crankcase ventilation for reduced oil drainage
Filter Crushers to Eliminate Waste
Cummins Filtration offers a variety of Oberg™ Filter Crushers to reduce waste and solve used filter disposal issues. Several models are available, with crushing forces ranging from 31,416 pounds up to 70,650 pounds. Filter crushing eliminates most of the oil from the filter, while reducing filter size for easier disposal.
Instructions for Safe Product Handling
We publish current health, safety, and environmental protection information to our customers on an ongoing basis. For all of our chemical products, we offer updated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), which comply with U.S. OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 for safe product handling and use. MSDS are updated regularly on this site and through our FleetguardFAX service by dialing 800-22FILTER (in North America).
