	Fleetguard Emission Solutions Helps Clean the Air at Yosemite
	7 SEP 05 -- Yosemite National Park, located in California, has acted to preserve one of the most beautiful national parks in North America. Recently, the park took delivery of 18 diesel-electric hybrid transit buses manufactured by Gillig Corporation. The hybrid drive is powered by a Cummins ISB engine that includes a diesel particulate filter manufactured by Fleetguard Emission Solutions. Over 3 million people will visit Yosemite next year. These visits will be much kinder to the environment thanks to these new ISB engines and the diesel particulate filters. The aftertreatment system features a diesel oxidation catalyst and a diesel particulate filter. These technologies are designed to work together to reduce particulate matter by at least 85 percent and to also reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions by 90 percent. The Fleetguard Emission Solutions diesel particulate filter uses the Johnson Matthey patented Continuously Regenerating Technology, or CRT, which was among the first to be verified by both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board. The system traps and oxidizes soot before turning it to ash, and it is designed as a complete muffler replacement. Just recently, the Johnson Matthey CRT verification was extended to include ultra low blends of B20 bio-diesel, making it the only after-treatment device verified for use with bio-diesel. Bio-diesel is the blend of standard diesel fuel with any clean burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable resources such as soybean oil.
