--
On July 27th, 2005, the Fleetguard Cookeville, Tennessee, facility was recognized by the state of Tennessee for excellence in safety. Employees at the facility have worked since December 17, 2004, without a lost time injury. The award was presented by Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley during the 28th annual Tennessee Safety and Health Congress and Exposition at Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Fleetguard Cookeville Plant Manager Frank Westbrook accepted the Commissioner's Award of Excellence on behalf of the facility.
"This award represents a great accomplishment in workplace safety for Fleetguard Inc.," said Neeley. "The teamwork between employees and management at this facility has shown precise attention to safety and health matters. We are proud to honor this facility once again."
In October 2004, the Fleetguard Cookeville facility was honored by the Commissioner for achieving more than one million hours of work without a single lost workday injury. "I am very proud of our employees for their constant dedication to getting the job done with a total commitment to safety," Westbrook said. "A safe and healthy working environment has always been our top priority at Fleetguard, and we are very pleased to have exceeded our safety goal and to receive this prestigious recognition for our work."
The Tennessee labor department safety awards program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety by recognizing manufacturing and construction firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain a safe and healthful workplace. The Commissioner's Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who together have achieved a required number of hours worked without experiencing a lost workday case and who have maintained total injury and illness incidence rates below the national average. The number of hours required to be considered for the award is based on the size of the company. Each year, only a small number of facilities in Tennessee meet the criteria for this award.
