Cummins Recognized with Two Volkswagen Supply Awards in Brazil

26 SEP 07 -- Cummins and Cummins Filtration are proud to announce their recent recognition from Volkswagen (VW). On the night of September 5, VW Trucks in Brazil celebrated their Supply Award Event. In the presence of VW Truck and Bus President Roberto Cortes and Cummins VP & GM for the Mid-Range Engine Business David Crompton, Cummins was nominated for four of the 12 awards and won two.

Cummins Filtration was recognized with the Supply Award - Aftermarket Parts in recognition for the “partnership, dedication and team work demonstrated” over the past several years as well as improved service since the implementation of the ship direct program. Marina Savelli,General Manager for Cummins Filtration in Latin America, received the award presented by Osmany Baptista, VW Parts and Accessories Operations Manager, and Diogo Pupo Nogueira, VW Service and Technical Service Executive Manager.

Cummins Engine was recognized with the Supply Award - Commercial Excellence - Powertrain in recognition for the “excellent commercial support and relationship” with VW and also for supporting their continuous growth in all markets by developing products, being responsive and investing in its plants to become flexible and competitive. Luis Pasquotto, Senior Director of the EBU in Brazil, received the award presented by Wilfrid Platzer, VW Truck and Buses Vice President - Engineering/Purchasing and Manufacturing.

VW is alternating the leadership in the Brazilian Truck market with significant increase in market share partially due to a very successful partnership with Cummins. In 2007, VW has experienced 35% growth and is projecting close to 50,000 units to be assembled at the Resende Plant in Brazil in 2007, for domestic and export markets throughout the world.
