Once water gets in the diesel fuel system, it creates the opportunity for an invasion of microorganisms. Microbes attack at the fuel/water interface, where they thrive and multiply. Once established, they entrench themselves in a thick layer of slimy deposits and create a number of troublesome maintenance problems, including premature fuel filter plugging, hazy fuel, clogged injectors, as well as fuel storage tank corrosion and leakage.
