Cummins Filtration's Barry Verdegan Chosen for American Filtration & Separations Society Senior Scientist Award

19 MAR 07 -- Cummins Filtration, the leader in filtration, exhaust, coolant and chemical technology for all engine-powered systems, announced that Barry Verdegan, Research Fellow, has been chosen to receive the prestigious Senior Scientist Award from the American Filtration & Separations Society (AFS). The annual award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the technology of filtration and separation. Verdegan will receive the honor at the AFS Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, during the organization's 20th conference and exhibition.

Among Verdegan's accomplishments are more than 50 published papers on filtration technology, seven of which have been presented to the World Filtration Congress; plus 17 awarded patents in the areas of filtration product technology; and standards committee leadership in fields of contamination control and fine particle measurement.

"To be the recipient of this prestigious award is an outstanding achievement for Barry and well-deserved in light of his immense contribution to the field of filtration and separation technology," said Patrick Barge, Executive Director - Engineering and Technology for Cummins Filtration. "We value Barry's extensive research and expertise that allows us to stay on the cutting edge of advancements in filtration."

The AFS Awards Committee selects individuals who in the middle of their career are making significant contributions to the technology of filtration and separation. The committee noted that Verdegan's research will be of value for many years in assisting young scientists. "Barry is a stellar asset to the greater global community of scientists," said Edward Homonoff, Chair of the Awards Committee.

AFS is the premier organization in North America dedicated to research and development, problem solutions, and technology transfer in fluid-particle separation for the benefit of industrial processes, individual health and a clean environment. AFS conferences and events offer industry leaders an opportunity to meet and hear the newest information in filtration and separation technology. Over the past two years more than 300 organizations have sent representatives to AFS events.
